The case against Truist continues with a new attorney for the Plaza supporters, Amanda Fox-Perry of Fay Law Group. She is a former ANC commissioner in Adams Morgan, and a long supporter of this effort. We also had the judge who the Court of Appeals said in their December 2022 ruling, Hiram Puig-Lugo, was erroneous in dismissing the case. He has retired and the case has been reassigned to Judge DW Tunnage. A first hearing with him is scheduled for September 14, 2023.

Adams Morgan Day 2023!

Adams Morgan for Reasonable Development Facilitator Vikram Surya Chiruvolu and local artist, activist, and attorney Kristin Adair have led a collaboration, with the support of the DC Council on the Arts and Humanities, to create a 400-foot long fence wrap and documentary film screening series in September 2023. For more information on that go to the Neighborhood Power: An Adams Morgan Story website.

Also, Friend of the Plaza and longtime neighborhood activist and photographer Nancy Shia has worked with the DC Humanities Truck to put together an exhibit about the history of the neighborhood for Adams Morgan Day, September 10, 2023.

Please come out, learn more, and connect with community!

  1. Great to get this news! But can we get more info on the case? eg, that Truist filed a case for summary judgment that will be heard on September 14.  Also, will it be online, and is there a link? I watched the December trial and am eager to see this one, maybe others are too. Thanks to whoever drafted this…so important that neighbors know things are going ahead. Otherwise folks may think the big ugly Fort Truist is the end of the fight, as it’s the only visible sign of the plaza. Sandra Reischel

    1. Thanks for your request & question. Unfortunately DC Superior Court does not stream / save its video out to the public for viewing. We’ll make sure you have the links in the future! There’s a status hearing in 3 weeks or so, and yes, we’ll work to keep folks posted well ahead of time the best we can. In the meantime, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out directly.
